English Springer Spaniel

It is only quite recently that the Kennel Club has officially recognised the variety known by the name at the head of this section. For a long time the old-fashioned liver and white, or black Spaniels, longer in the leg than either Sussex or Field Spaniels, had been known as Norfolk Spaniels, and under this title the Spaniel Club has published a description of them. There had, however, been a considerable amount of discussion about the propriety of this name of “Norfolk,” and the weight of the evidence adduced went to show that as far as any territorial connection with the county of that name went, it was a misnomer, and that it probably arose from the breed having been kept by one of the Dukes of Norfolk, most likely that one quoted by Blaine in his _Rural Sports_, who was so jealous of his strain that it was only on the expressly stipulated condition that they were not to be allowed to breed in the direct line that he would allow one to leave his kennels…

Understanding Scuba Computers

If you love to scuba dive, then you should be familiar with scuba equipment computers. They are a great asset to any gear that you may already have. These computers can greatly enhance any scuba diving adventure and help to keep you safer as well. You can receive vital information about the best dive times along with water depths and decompression times. This will help you to avoid having decompression sickness which can cause serious problems. These electronic devices provide this type of information fast and easy by continuously calculating the gases in your body as you are diving. It will give you a warning if you are ascending too rapidly or if you miss a decompression stop.

Scuba diving computers can inform you if the oxygen toxicity limits are being exceeded or if you are passing the maximum depth recommended for security. You will also be informed of the water temperature as well. Some of the more complex computers will keep a recorded log of dives that you have made in the past and have all the significant information concerning theses dives available to you. There is one thing that you need to remember when it comes to a scuba diving computer and that is, that you are using an electronic device that can and will occasionally go offline or give out a false reading. This means that for security purposes you should also keep decompression tables and other similar gear available at all times.

The first time that you use a scuba diving computer you need to take some time to make sure that you understand the system completely. There is a lot of information that is given out through display modes and menus that you will need to know to find what you are searching for quickly. If you don’t understand all of this before using the equipment it could result in injury or even in death. Take the time to experiment with short dives until you know exactly how the computer functions. It’s much better to be safe than to take chances.

Scuba diving computers are a great accessory to any divers gear. They provide a lot of vital information that makes planning and executing a dive easier and faster. There is however one drawback to these systems. They tend to make some people overconfident and this is a problem. These people tent to take to many risks and make dives that are above their experience levels and training. This sets the stage for serious accidents. You have to keep in mind that this type of environment is unpredictable and you should never take unnecessary risk. Only make the dives you are qualified for and follow all the security rules all the time. Make every dive a pleasant and enjoyable experience.
