Halo: Combat Evolved was released in 2000 and is considered by many as one of the best first-person shooters that is available for a console. The gamer plays as the character called Master Chief. Although he’s been dubbed by many as the silent warrior he is accompanied by an AI companion who goes by the name Cortana. Through Cortana the gamer learns a lot of background information during game play and she also provides a lot of comedic relief.
In 2000 when Halo: Combat Evolved came out, it sold 6.5 million copies and broke entertainment industry records. Due to quick sales and constant uprising of the game, it also quickly became Xbox’s flagship enterprise. Four years later came the release of Halo 2. Halo 2 quickly broke the records that Halo: Combat Evolved had achieved. Give Bungie Studio’s another few years and gamers had Halo 3 for Xbox 360. Halo 3 quickly became the largest pre-ordered game in history and sold over $170 million worth of copies within its first 24 hours of release.
